Dutch Open Hobie 14 Wassenaar Cup 2026

Start

On 12-13 September, 19 Hobie 14s competed for the “Dutch Open Hobie 14 Wassenaar Cup” at the KZVW in the Netherlands. This year marked the 8th consecutive edition of this vibrant event.

Both days offered ideal sailing conditions, with a south-westerly wind ranging from 5 Bft with big waves on Saturday to 3 Bft with a fleet see on Sunday.

A special highlight this year was the participation of six youth sailors, joining the Hobie 14 fleet for the very first time. It was fantastic to see the next generation embracing the Hobie spirit, and we sincerely hope they’ll be back next year — and maybe bring some friends along too!

Saturday evening featured the traditional Hobie BBQ at a beautiful beachside location. With delicious food, cold drinks, and great company, it was the epitome of the Hobie way of life: laid-back, fun, and full of good energy. Laughter, stories, and music filled the air as sailors and friends came together to celebrate the sport and the community.

Overall results:

  1. Thorin Zeilmaker (NED)
  2. Broder Diedrichsen (GER)
  3. Allard Verburg (NED)

Youth results:

  1. Chris Huntelman (NED)
  2. Wieger Schuitema (NED)
  3. Delphine Collado Swart (NED)

We hope our German and Maastrichtian friends will join us again in 2027 — and that even more Hobie 14 sailors from abroad will come to Wassenaar to experience the magic of this event. Sun, sea, sailing, and smiles — what more could you want?
