The second edition of “La Route de L’Odyssèe – navigating the sea of myth” ended on Sunday 8 June 2025, the three-day sailing event with a sporting background, sponsored by ANSMeS, a worthy member of CONI and CIP, an organization that promotes all the different sports disciplines in the province and brings not only competitive athletes or amateurs who are already practicing but also young people who are approaching the world of sailing.
The unique ANSMeS 2025 project recalls the importance of inclusion in Sport and this event fully represented it thanks to the collaboration of the Technical Committee made up of three Hobiecat fleets; the 340 Costa Pontina Astura Bay Latina fleet, the 383 Terracina fleet and the 808 Pescara fleet, directed by their respective Commodores Mario Pastore, Gabriele Miceli and Sandro Marino.
A partnership between fleets that strengthens the style of the Class, promoting the Hobie Way of Life throughout the National territory.
This idea was born from the strong push of the 340 Costa Pontina Astura Bay fleet already known for the Gran Prix New Life of 2022 and 2023, events that have established themselves as attractors of crews and catamarans from all over the Pontina coast and from part of the Peninsula.
The desire to give a boost to a large number of sailors who have abandoned competitive sailing in their sailing clubs but keep within themselves a passion that never ends.
In every sailing club we see many boats, but only a few continue to go out to sea. These few are disoriented because at sea you cannot sail alone if you care about safety.
The idea of the Commodore of the Latina Fleet is precisely to widen the boundaries of its enclosure to assemble a single large group that moves together under the correct supervision of a committee that makes safety at sea its credo.
A valid alternative to purely competitive sporting activity has therefore been given, offering a zero-cost activity, open to all ages and without distinction of gender.
The RAID is not a regatta but a healthy lifestyle, as the international motto states: Hobie Way of Life
This year, based on the experience of the previous year, it was decided to increase the level of Navigation Safety, introducing three measures: reducing the number of participants, increasing the number of support boats and renting a geo-localization system from the English YB Tracking. The target was fully achieved.
During the first two legs, the crews under the competitive instinct, were kept under close surveillance by the Committee boat, which, following the route, gave continuous and precise instructions via VHF radio to keep the Cat’s as much close each other as possible. During the third leg, the VHF radios “went silent”. The fleet had somatized the Hobie way of life, that state of mind that gives the joy of sailing in the context of Nature above and below the surface of the sea. These are the words of Mario Pastore Commodore of Fleet 340, the greatest gift that the hard work of organization has given me.
